A verse, a fire, and a promise made under the stars

It started on an ordinary evening, at the end of an ordinary day on safari.

A group of guests had settled around the fire after a long day of game drives, swapping stories with their tour guide the way travelers and guides always do at the end of a day in the bush. Someone started singing. Then someone else. Before long, it had turned into something like a friendly singing contest, guides and guests trading verses back and forth under the Tanzanian sky.

When it came to the guide's turn, he didn't just sing. He performed a verse so sharp, so full of rhythm and feeling, that the whole group fell silent and then erupted. It wasn't rehearsed. It wasn't part of the itinerary. It was just a man who loved his country, his work, and his craft, letting all three pour out at once.

"The day you start your own company, you have to call it African Verse Safaris."

We named the company after that night because it captures exactly what we believe a safari should be: not a checklist of parks ticked off one by one, but a story. One that unfolds day by day, campfire by campfire, and stays with you long after you've flown home.
